It’s finally happened, I’m writing a blog post! Just kidding, Tie Dye Diva is finally releasing the ladies’ version of the New York Minute pattern. I think the most common question I heard when sharing her girls’ version was “Is there a ladies’ version?”, and now I can say “YES there is!”.
I think my favorite thing about this pattern is how comfortable it is, and second is that throughout testing, Tie Dye Diva went to great efforts to ensure that the out-of-the-envelope fit worked for most body types. Typically I need to make some kind of fit change to a pattern, but I didn’t for this one at all which is such a relief because it’s one less step. That’s not to say that NO ONE made any fit changes, but most of us didn’t need to across the sizes which is pretty darn cool. This pattern does include a center back seam which is a convenient way to make fit changes there if they’re needed.
The ladies’ New York Minute pattern* comes with a tunic and dress version, high low hem, inset or kangaroo pockets, short or long hemmed sleeves or thumbhole cuffs, hemmed/faced/hoodie neckline, a fun snap feature for the inset pockets, and ties for the faced/hoodie necklines. It’s also available in sizes 0-26. Depending on your pattern versions and fabric choices, a variety of looks can be made with this pattern.
This version here is the tunic with a straight hem, neckline band, thumbhole cuffs, and banded inset pockets. The fabric is a very soft rayon/lycra French terry from Cali Fabrics, and the contrast band is a cotton/spandex from Cali as well. I made a size 2 graded to size 0 for hips, and it’s absolutely perfect!

I have made a few versions already, and although I haven’t been able to take pics of them, they’re a staple garment for me, especially since I’ve been wearing leggings more often! Next though I think I need to make a dress version…
