It’s been a fun week helping host the Lemon Drop sew-along for Tie Dye Diva Patterns! If you weren’t able to participate in the sew-along, the blog posts will still remain up after the sew-along is over. Each day is below:
- Selecting Your Fabric
- Day 1 – Fitting and Pattern “hacks”
- Day 2 – Add on Flutters and Constructing Bodice
- Day 3 – Placket, French Seams, and In-Seam Pockets
- Day 4 – Maxi and Hi-Low Hems
- Day 5 – Closures and Wrapping Up
This was the hi-low tunic hack with flutters, and I love the cherries poplin fabric my girl picked out for it. It’s part of the Gertie Fabric Collection found at JoAnn’s. I made a Knot or Not Headband to coordinate with the tunic, also from Tie Dye Diva. Can you believe I’ve had that green gingham in my stash for more than 20 years? I forgot how soft it was.
This one is also part of the Gertie Fabric Collection, a cotton sateen that is incredibly soft! It works perfectly for my girls too since the big one loves yellow, and when my little one gets it, she loves the blue.
This ruffle maxi is a combination of fabrics from Art Gallery and Blend Fabrics. Surprisingly enough, I think this is my favorite one.
I love the way that bottom ruffle swings around when my girl is dancing; the red is stunning.
It’s such a happy and festive dress, and it makes me think of Frida Kahlo and Mexican folk art.
I had so much fun working on these hacks, but I’m also ready for a little break! I’ve been working on another fun little project in the meantime that I’m dying to share, very, very soon, and to say I’m obsessed is an understatement!
Do you have any summer sewing plans now that school is out? Swimsuits? Sun dresses? This is one of my favorite seasons to sew for! I might finally get that swimsuit made for myself…
This is like bubble gum delicious.
